The Fertile Crescent

The Fertile Crescent is a crescent shaped piece of land that is fertile by the rivers, surrounded by desert. Mesopotamia is in the middle as the “land between two rivers”. The two rivers are the Tigris and Euphrates. The Nile Delta is at the edge of the Fertile Crescent.

Tigris and Euphrates River

Hi I’m Angie. Did you ever wonder what Mesopotamia means? It means land between two rivers. Which rivers? They’re the Tigris and Euphrates River. Why are they important? Well, without them those in Mesopotamia wouldn’t be able to survive. Why not? Well, they can’t survive without the rivers because they supply water, but the water helps so much. That’s why they needed the rivers.

They have levees help block the floods that they had.
They used canals to move the water where they need it.
irrigation is both of these put to together to help the city.

Alex’s introduction

Hi this is Alex speaking for geography. Geography is important because it’s shaped the way the Mesopotamia was and how there culture was.

northern vs. southern

My name is faith and i am doing northern vs. southern
Northern has fertile land, good crops, doesn’t rain as much, good weather
Southern: rains and snows a lot, not good crops, really hot, not good soil
